PTCO Bulletin 11-30-10


CALENDAR

Wed., Dec. 1 - Evacuation Drill – LES will conduct a full campus evacuation drill at 8:15am on Dec. 1. Please have your children to school no later than 7:55am.
No one will be allowed on school campus once the drill begins.
In the event of an actual evacuation:
1. No one will return to the LES campus.
2. Teachers will notify parents of the evacuation from the evacuation site after all students are accounted for and instructions are given. (It is important that the school have current emergency contact info.)
3. Parents will be able to pick up their child(ren) from the evacuation site.

Wed., Dec. 1 – LES Christmas Program! 6pm at the CAC. Please be there by 5:30pm to check in with your child’s teacher, and so they can get settled before the performance begins!

ANNOUNCEMENTS

IMPORTANT SAFETY NOTICE
Children have been reported being seen in the front seats of cars, in the back of truck beds, and most shockingly on the rails of truck beds while being dropped off for school.
Please remember to obey the laws and keep children in the back seat until 12 years old (or 100 lbs). No one under 12 is allowed in the back of a truck, and, of course, on the rails of a truck bed.  
As mandated reporters, teachers and all school personnel are required to report these things if seen, as it is child endangerment.

Tues., Nov 30  Craft Fair sponsored by Friends of the Kahuku Library. 2-7:30pm.
Wed., Dec. 1 – After School Club 1pm.
Thurs., Dec. 2– Keiki Storytime!  10am.

Kahuku Elementary Fun Run/Walk
Kahuku Elementary is proud to announce its first annual holiday 5k/1 mile Fun Run/Walk at Gunstock Ranch on Saturday, December 4, at 7:00 a.m.  Every participant receives a t-shirt and a number for the lucky number drawing for prizes such as a surfboard, a Wii system with three games, a Nikon Camera, an Escape Club Membership at Turtle Bay which includes a one night stay and a round of golf.  Additional lucky number prizes include an iTouch, dinner for two at Palm Terrace, Dave and Buster Power cards and more. You can also purchase lucky numbers for $1 each and you DONT have to be present to win. 
If you would like to buy lucky number tickets, please email Melissa @wilsonm023@yahoo.com or text @ 277-1423 and we will bring them to you and collect your money.

Registration forms for the race are attached and can be turned in on race day for the same price of $20 NOT $30 as the registration form says but you are not guaranteed a t-shirt.  Cash prizes will be given to the top female and top male runners PLUS the top female and male runners in each age category will receive gift cards.


2010 Winter Intersession Day Camps, What a Wonderful World

Keiki Kalikimaka contest
Calling all artists ages 12 and below! Kids, help us trim our pages with the holiday spirit. It's time for our annual Keiki Kalikimaka drawing contest. Design an ornament and you'll have a chance at our prizes of $100, $75 and $25 cash. We'll select a daily finalist, to be printed on Page 1 of the section beginning Nov. 26. On Christmas we'll run all 29 finalists and announce the randomly chosen winners. The contest is open to kids up to age 12. All entries must be between 5 and 8 inches wide. No 3-D entries (don't glue on any objects). We must receive your drawing in the mail -- no faxes or e-mails. Ornaments cannot be returned. Attach the entry form at left. The last day to enter is Dec. 20. Click HERE to print the entry form!
PAL Basketball
PAL basketball registration is now open to boys and girls ages 5 to 14 years old.  Register at the HRI office in the Laie Shopping Center.  The fee is $35 a player, families with 3 or more siblings registered pay $30 per child. Parents who volunteer to coach are waived the fee for 1 child.  1 waived fee per family.
Please register now because registration ends the first week of December!
